Their Story
Dave started his journey working with and moving earth at a young age . His opportunities to grow edible plants started at a very young age eating from and sowing seeds in his backyard. His Mom a plant enthusiast asked for his assistance and he landscaped the backyard to make it her dream come true. He has an artists soul, reimagining spaces growing edible and beautiful plants brings him so much joy. Tending to the land has brought so many lessons and seasonal understanding that helps his farming journey.
Among many other activities that support their thriving family, Dave and Lucie work together nurturing and tending to children, plants and animals at Sun Blossom Farm and both believe that they can take on any task, make mistakes and eventually succeed. Lucie has always enjoyed working in the garden with her dad and studied botany and horticulture landscape design in Humboldt and at Diablo Valley College. She started her first permaculture landscape design business in 2012 after the birth of their first daughter, Sequoia. Through different landscapes and microclimates, she learned many techniques and is still learning! Her biggest fascination is the health of the soil and how that reflects on plant friends.
Dave and Lucie share the same philosophy in their farming practices, honoring and tending to land on occupied Coast Salish and S’Kallam Tribal territory. They believe that the health of the soil managed with organic, sustainable practices is mirrored in the health of food.
A holistic and functional medicine approach to optimal health is how Lucie has helped herself and others to heal. Focusing on herbs, diet, lifestyle and homeopathic medicines has helped Lucie in overcoming many ailments (chronic Lyme, leaky gut, autoimmune, gallbladder issues, cervical dysplasia and deep trauma ) . Using her own ailments and those of her clients as her teachers, Lucie studied four years to become a Clinical Herbalist in 2015 in the SF Bay Area and since then has been applying her knowledge professionally. Her goal is to support her clients with a holistic and functional healing approach to acute and chronic illness while holding sacred space for them to discover deep methods of restorative medicine. Women’s health, children’s health, animal health, men’s health, external and subcutaneous injuries, auto-immune disease, chronic Lyme with co-infections, mold toxicity and sexual healing are some of her specialties.
